Pacifica Quartet to Perform Beethoven Cycles from Coast
to Coast
Ludwig van Beethoven will be the Pacifica Quartet’s “composer of the year” during the upcoming concert season as the Quartet performs Beethoven’s complete string quartets in four different locations across the U.S.
Music in the Vineyards (www.napavalleymusic.org) will present Beethoven’s complete string quartets in Napa Valley wine country from August 6 through August 22, 2007.
Chicago will host a Pacifica Quartet Beethoven cycle (www.pacificabeethoven.com) sponsored by six music organizations. Concerts will take place from October, 2007 to March, 2008, and the Quartet will also offer master classes, radio broadcasts, and a lecture concert exploring Beethoven’s music together with the noted music commentator Rob Kapilow.
In New York, Columbia University (www.columbia.edu) will present a Beethoven cycle in a series of 18 lunchtime concerts from September, 2007 through March, 2008.
Madeline Island Music Camp in Wisconsin (www.music-camp.org) will present Beethoven's complete string quartets over two summers, beginning in June, 2007 and completing the series in the summer of 2008.

Elliott Carter Centennial
On January 30, 2008, to mark the beginning of the 100th birthday year of America’s most celebrated living composer, Elliott Carter, the Pacifica Quartet will perform the complete cycle of Carter’s five string quartets in one evening presented by The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York. On the day before the concert, a workshop on Carter's quartets with the Pacifica Quartet and other guest artists will be offered. Events include a master class, a panel discussion, and an interview with the composer. |

Carter CD Coming
The Pacifica Quartet is currently recording its signature performances of Elliott Carter's string quartets. Issued on the Naxos label, the first disc will offer Quartet No. 1 and Quartet No. 5. Check www.pacificaquartet.com for release date and availability. |
