Quartet Was Exciting; That's No Sugar-Coating

After the Pacifica String Quartet concert at Christ Church United Methodist, I found a place to sit at a table downstairs where a friend and I overindulged on the fabulous array of sweet treats that was offered. This was a marvelous concert given Saturday night by a group of young musicians who were so full of their musical selves that they simply lit up the room with energy and brilliance. The Pacifica String Quartet was just about as exciting with its playing as I could ask for.

The "Harp" Quartet by Beethoven was religious and divine; three pieces from Igor Stravinsky that were cobbled together were unique and interesting; and Antonin Dvorak's "Quartet in G Major" was as musically settling as any reading I have heard.
These players were brilliant and the standing ovation they received was a just reward.
